SMB -The Champion

It’s not that I don’t like basketball game but because my husband is an avid fan and he used to play with it I tend to admire the sport. So I begun to like it and have my favorite team also. My favorite team really is Purefoods but sad to know that they will not able to make it to the finals. My second favorite team is San Miguel Beermen. And bravo SMB Bags Fiesta Cup Crown. I think they deserve the crown because they worked for it. Their strong determination, self-confidence, cooperation and endurance made them won the crown.

Congratulations also to the Ginebra team because they make it to the finals. Like what they always say “Never say die”. Even if they will not able to garnered the championship crown but still they showed their best, and that they are the second among the best.

State of the Nations Address

The State of the Nation Address (Filipino: Talumpati sa Kalagayan ng Bansa, abbreviated SONA) is an annual event in the Republic of the Philippines, in which the President of the Philippines reports on the status of the nation, normally to the resumption of a joint session of the Congress (the House of Representatives and the Senate). This is a duty of the President as stated in Article VII, Section 23 of the 1987 Constitution:

"The President shall address the Congress at the opening of its regular session. He may also appear before it at any other time."

The address is also an opportunity for opposition parties to protest against the government. In 2005, tens of thousands of people attended protest rallies during the State of the Nation Address of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, calling on her to resign.

The "State of the Nation" address was first mentioned in the 1935 Constitution, in Section 10 of Article VII:

"The President shall from time to time give to the Congress information on the state of the Nation, and recommend to its consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."

The first SONA was delivered by President Manuel L. Quezon on June 16, 1936. All such addresses are published in The Official Gazette, an annual publication by the government, which is a collection of all promulgations, Supreme Court decisions, executive issuances, and laws, which have been passed for the year. It is always delivered on the fourth Monday of July.

On Monday July 27, 2009 marks the 9th SONA of Pres. Gloria Arroyo. Will it be her last SONA? - that's the many questions of the people who are now ready to converge for demonstration for the said event. Let's see and hear from all the same promises she will be telling to the people on what happened after one year.

What is Charter Change

What is charter Change? Why many are against it? What is the effect of this amendment to the political situation in the country? According to wikipedia - Charter Change, also known as "Cha-Cha" in the Philippines, refers to the political and other related processes involved in amending or revising the current 1987 Constitution of the Philippines. Under the current constitution there are three modes of which it could be amended: people's initiative (PI), constituent assembly and constitutional convention. All three would lead to a referendum wherein the proposed amendment/s or revision/s has to be approved by the majority of Filipinos in order to be adopted.

People’s Initiative Under Article XVII, Sec.2 of the Constitution, “Amendments to this Constitution may likewise be directly proposed by the people through initiative upon a petition of at least twelve per centum of the total number of registered voters, of which every legislative district must be represented by at least three per centum of the registered votes therein.” The process of amending or revising the 1987 constitution of the Philippines is popularly known to many Filipinos as Charter Change. Any proposed amendment or revision to the 1987 Constitution shall only be valid when ratified by the majority of Filipinos in a plebiscite.
A Constituent assembly is a body composed for the purpose of drafting or adopting a constitution. Unlike forms of constitution-making in which a constitution is unilaterally imposed by a sovereign lawmaker, the constituent assembly creates a constitution through “internally imposed” actions, in that members of the constituent assembly are themselves citizens, but not necessarily the rulers, of the country for which they are creating a constitution.
A constitutional convention is a gathering for the purpose of writing a new constitution or revising an existing constitution. A general constitutional convention is called to create the first constitution of a political unit or to entirely replace an existing constitution.

Are you Hypertensive?

What is hypertension? It is a condition which can result when the arterial diameter is reduced or when the volume flowing through the arteries is increased. Increased pressure caused by reduced diameter of the arteries plays a greater role in hypertension. Normal blood pressure is 120/80 or ranges between 90/60 to 140/90. When higher than 140/90, blood pressure is usually described as hypertension.

Probable Causes:
1. High sodium intake. sodium (salt) and other dietary factors have been studied to see whether they play a role in the development of hypertension. Studies shown that mild restriction of sodium can produce a modest but definite fall in blood pressure.
2. Kidney diseases
3. Various hormonal imbalances
If hypertension goes unchecked, the result is heart failure which may lead to further problems such as stroke and kidney damage.

Probable Symptoms:
1. Breathlessness
2. Nose bleeding with no apparent cause
3. Severe headache localized in some part of the head, which occur in early morning hours, accompanied by nausea, and vision becoming progressively worse.
4. Dizziness when diastolic pressure is above 110
In most cases, there are no signs or symptoms. Hence regular blood pressure checkup is vital.

Dietary Management:
1. Eat a lowsalt diet, at the same time, lowfat diet.
2. Include foods high in potassium
3. Lose weight (for overweights)

Are you Overloading your Stomach?

How do you spell relief? If you are a Filipinos you spell it P E S O S and D O L L A R S if you are an Americans. It’s because you spend so much on pills and potions just to relieve an angry stomach. A better way would be is: to stop overloading your stomach and give the rest it needs.

How does your stomach protest?
______ Never
______ Several times a year
______ Several times a month
______ Weekly
______ Every day

If you frequently have indigestion or an upset stomach, and your doctor has rule out more serious problems, it may be your eating habits that are causing your grief.

Try answering the following questions with Yes or No.

______1. Do you have regular eating times?

Your body thrives on a regular schedule, not only of eating, but of waking, sleeping and exercise. So you must have to follow your schedule of meal, not in advance not too late. Be on time.
______ 2. Do you often eat between meals?

When new food shows up in a stomach that is already working, digestion must slow down until the system deals with the new arrival. A stomach needs time to finish digesting the first batch of foods you intake.
______ 3. Are your meals spaced four to five hours apart?

Spacing meals several hours apart allows the stomach to work at its own pace. Food from one meal is completely digested before the next one arrives.
______ 4. Do you drink coffee?

Coffee, even decaf, contains substances that can irritate the lining of the stomach. Too much of this substance can send your stomach into rebellion.
______ 5. Do you eat right before going to bed?

The stomach, like the rest of your body, needs rest. A meal or snack late in the evening forces it to work. So it’s a big No having snacks late at night because the stomach is already resting.

So the challenge is give your stomach a break by spacing meals further apart. Do not interrupt the digestive cycle with in between snacks or meals not on time because it will sweeten the disposition of a cranky stomach.

Choosing the Right Blogging Software on your Blog

I’ve been into blogging since July of 2007. It started when one of my officemate told me if I want extra money while working. I said yes of course. Then she told me I will tell my student to teach you how. Then one afternoon a student approached me. She explained and made an account, choose a template, and add some links for the sidebar and many other things she did to make my site looked beautiful. She even told her earnings through this work. First two weeks of working on it, there was eagerness in myself but since I am dependent on her on what to do next because I really don’t know how it was to be done, so I stopped. Until December of 2007 she approached me again if I continue blogging I said “I stopped because I don’t know”. She said, you should continue because it pays your hard work, just post anything that you want. Beautify your site. I kept her advised and explore how and what’s beyond.
The first thing I did was to explore on how to change my template that suits what I want my site to be. I kept on changing because some blogs were really beautiful and I asked myself where and how they made it. Through exploring and surfing in the internet I learned that there are sites offering free downloadable template for blogs. But I was afraid to do it because it might destroy my site. And besides if I want to customize the look and functionality of the blog, knowledge of CSS, PHP, HTML, installation of files on the hosting server, and advanced knowledge of computer administration is best. Since I was afraid to download templates I just added some plugins and widgets because there are also tons of plugins and widgets that can be added to the blogger software. Plugins and widgets enhanced functionality and are used for design elements, gadgets, videos and images, and different content for the blog.
Some popular plugins are use to reduce spam in the blog comments, categorize and tag blog posts, generate site maps, contact forms, and different money making plugins such as Google Adsense ads and other affiliate programs for the blog. But no matter, what design templates or blogging software you are using as long as you are updating and posting your site with good information and most important is building traffic by way of joining and visiting other blog sites. Then you will find that blogging is ended fun and can be a source of extra money in your pocket. It adds learning too.
